Summary
Yahoo! Personals is one of the largest dating networks with over 10 million members. Being part of the Yahoo family, it is a very fast loading and easy to use website with many unique feature that are not found in many other online dating sites.

It is simple to use and the sign up process is quite comprehensive. You can start by entering some basic information about you and where you live which is just the basic search criteria. This will bring up a lot of matches but ideally you need to refine the search so yahoo offers an advanced criteria search.
In order to do this, you need to log in with your yahoo id.

In the advanced search mode, you can provide more details about your ideal match, including their geographic distance, age, height, appearance, family, personal and professional attributes. When you check the attributes it offers 3 choices for each including must have, nice to have, doesn’t matter. Yahoo makes it easy to create your profile and make choices by including little help sections on the right side of the page so you can easily understand what some of the terms mean.
In this detailed matching process it even includes sections like ‘group affiliations - vegetarians, disabled, political views and astrological signs. For many people these are important search criteria that will help you narrow down the right match and most other sites don’t even bother with. However, the interests section is slightly sparse and they might need to include more sub-sections.
With advanced searching, the results become more refined and a match-scale shows you as a % how close a match they are to you. This is well presented and easy to understand. You can then view the profiles of matches who take your fancy, read more about them and maybe consider subscribing so you can contact them. You can also act as a matchmaker for your friends by finding people and forwarding the link.
With so many free features available before you even pay for subscription, this is a good choice for many who want to try before they buy.

Once you have signed up, you have a personal mailbox to send and receive mail. You can also upload up to 5 photos to your profile. Yahoo includes “conversation starters” a choice of 50 questions potential dates will have to answer to start a conversation going.

Another unique feature is to add a voice or video profile too. This is not found in many other dating services. To communicate with other members on the site, you have to sign up for membership.

Yahoo! Personals Thumbs up
You can get matches emailed to you, saving you the time to browse through thousands of matches. Another nice feature is that once you’ve logged out and return a few days later, it shows you recent matches to any saved profile you have.

Thumbs down

You can’t restrict you search to just the people who meet your criteria, age, height, geographic location, etc, which would make it easier to and less time consuming to meet the right person
